Detector note / Evidence

Detector maturity is an evidence standard.

A rule can recognize syntax long before it has enough reviewed support to govern a release.

Availability is not readiness

Vyper Guard separates detector availability, maturity, and promotion. Experimental rules remain useful during expert review, but supported release policy requires reviewed positive and negative cases, stable finding behavior, documented limitations, and maintained regression coverage.

What promotion requires

  • Reviewed positive and negative examples across compatible compiler versions.
  • Stable source locations, fingerprints, and output behavior.
  • Documented false-positive modes and scope boundaries.
  • A maintainer and response policy for regressions.
